The True Dog Fancier By the late W.R.Polley A fancier is one who takes his chances battles luck & circumstances testing triumph & disaster that seems always to everlast but never letting courage go in sharing all the joys & woe trying to reach that elusive goal. Winning sometimes with a sigh losing as well with never a cry for not all judges see eye to eye in appreciating the quality of other dogs to place them all so high while we stand & wonder why but never decry any dog or man for trying to win all they can Wrong decisions can be made but rarely are maintained so we play the game fair & square like all true sportsman do with care never letting our spirit diminish until we reach the ultimate finish In continuing the hobby we love so dearly we hope that others will compete as fairly Alas, some people by the wayside fall in what should be the aim of us all to swell the numbers that may be thinning by breeders dogs that will be winning. But alas for them to breed to win seems such a waste of time & need for they may have a better chance of winning when there are less in the line to beat For when the competition becomes too great the faint-hearted are left at the starting gate giving the burden to others to bear without their help They give no care to breeding sound dogs, so their interest fall alas, they are not true fanciers at all |

My Life With Dogs By the late W.R.Polley 65 years among the dogs and very few without, 65 years with Terriers, true and faithful friends, 65 years of breeding them, how the time unbends, 65 years flush with success, without any doubts, Equating the number of Champions with the years, 65 years of breeding Champions, have come to an end, 65 years of those memories have also come to an end. 63 years of judging dogs, following all the trends, 63 years makes me feel that I have done my part, Trusting that someone else, will now take heart, And finish, that which I have been a part, Leaving all those memories deep in the past, For now the time has come for me to depart, Leaving all with a great longing in my heart.
